WWJD was “the thing” among many Christians for quite a while. What Would Jesus Do? – was the question that was asked to determine the outcome the seeker should take in a given situation. I have to admit I was never really intrigued by this fad. I’m not saying it’s not helpful to pause and consider what Jesus’ response might be in a particular situation, but I am more intrigued by the question What DID Jesus Do? I had the privilege today of perusing the library of our Messianic Pastor. He introduced me to a set of books called the Targumim that he picked up while he was in Israel. Beginning up to 200 years before Christ, the Hebrew scriptures began to be translated from Hebrew into Aramaic – the language of that day. As I understand it, the Hebrew scriptures (Old Testament) were in danger of not being fully understood as Aramaic became the common language.  Continue reading
